The Annual Precision Medicine Symposium brings speakers from across the country to discuss recent advances, current challenges, and promising future applications of precision medicine. Speakers from various colleges on the UAHS campus will also give presentations on exciting precision medicine research projects happening at UA. The topics for this year's symposium will include a morning session discussing general advances and applications of precision medicine, while the afternoon session will focus on precision medicine in the field of pharmacogenomics. CME credit will be offed for the full day, and CPE credit will be offered for the afternoon session on pharmacogenomics.

Genes on Screen Presents "Twitch - Would you want to know?"

"Twitch" follows filmmaker Kristen Powers as she grapples with her mother's death from Huntington's disease (HD) and her own decision to undergo genetic testing for HD. Join us for a documentary screening and presentation by filmmaker Kristen Powers, followed by a discussion with experts in genetics and neurology. Learn more.

The Center for Applied Genetics and Genomic Medicine (TCAG2M) focuses on the application of genetics and genomic biology to improve healthcare delivery for the people of Arizona. TCAG2M supports outstanding translational and clinical investigations into the etiology of disease and the development of new approaches to manage these conditions in the clinical setting. This philosophy has driven the creation of divisions in cancer genetics, cardiopulmonary genetics, clinical genetics and genetic consultation, community engagement and education, technology and innovation, pharmacogenomics, and population genetics to advance our translational and clinical agenda. About the UAHS-Banner Health All of Us Research Program
The All of Us Research Program is a major piece of the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI) and represents the hope for all of us to come together to change the future of health care. The more people across America that participate, the more data they contribute to this research platform, and the more researchers who tap into the data, the greater our chances of unlocking medical breakthroughs. The PMI is a bold research effort to revolutionize how we improve health and treat disease. The PMI aims to leverage advances in genomics, emerging methods for managing and analyzing large data sets while protecting privacy, and health information technology to accelerate biomedical discoveries.
In mid-2016, the National Institutes of Health awarded a $43M grant to UAHS and Banner to carry out the All of Us Research Program. This grant is the largest peer-reviewed grant in Arizona history and is provided through a five-year period with the intent of gathering information across all walks of life with a focus on their genetics, habits, and environment. Ultimately, the goal is disease prevention. About the UA Center for Innovation in Brain Science
Established in 2016, the UA Center for Innovation in Brain Science will accelerate the advancement of evidence-based clinical care of brain disorders caused by disease, genetics or trauma. In the 21stcentury, there is not a single cure for a single neurodegenerative disease. The mission of the Center for Innovation in Brain Science is to create breakthrough therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases that affect Arizonans, the nation and beyond. The Center will serve as a knowledge, resource and community hub for the clinical to translational to basic science neuroscience community across the UA and Banner – University Medical Center. For brain innovation teams, the Center will provide enabling expertise and infrastructure to develop therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases.
