Internal Partnerships

The Office of Biomedical Corporate Alliances works throughout the University of Arizona with the support of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and Tech Launch Arizona to help position our faculty and research programs competitively in the global science landscape by facilitating collaborations that make our programs better.

Our efforts are focused on assisting the University of Arizona Health Sciences research enterprise realize clinical, economic, and social impact through collaboration with industry, nonprofits, other academic medical centers, and especially other disciplines within the University of Arizona family of enterprises. We provide services to enable collaborative exploration and remove impediments to contracting and proactively facilitate the thoughtful exchange of information, intellectual property, research materials, software and other tools that might make our investigators more successful in their efforts to educate, discover, and disseminate knowledge.

Some of the activities we support with internal partners and customers:

  • We work closely with Tech Launch Arizona to balance the proprietary interest of the University with those of our commercial partners, with our efforts to discover, innovate, educate, and disseminate knowledge.
  • We will assist industry partners as well as University of Arizona faculty in finding collaborations, working with the various university units involved in research administration, and ongoing management of alliances and large projects.
  • We provide expertise on commercial and translational aspects of research strategy, including strategies for commercial collaboration, technology validation, vertical translation, and non-grant funding mechanisms even prior to a project's progression to those activities.
  • We will help guide and facilitate internal processes like IRB requests, contracting, and expertise resourcing for projects.

Our role is to balance the transaction costs of collaboration for our faculty and industry partners and customers. Our goal is to make it worthwhile for both our faculty and our industry partners to collaborate.

The Research Marketplace is a triage resource for interacting with University of Arizona research adminstration, and serves many of these functions as well by organizing information about researchers and demystifying internal processes.
